Brian and Denise Herrick of Barcroft Hall, South Petherton have completed their first stage of their marathon cycle ride from the UK to the Mediterranean having taken five 
days to cycle over 300 miles to Bordeaux . The ride has raised money for charity which will be donated locally.
Their next stage which will follow this year from Bordeaux to Montpelier will complete the 750 mile journey and hopefully raise more money.
Brian and Denise have been keen cyclists in France for years covering thousands of miles.
Brian commented’ We are delighted to have achieved this, the weather was truly against us at the beginning but by the last day the sun shone, I would recommend it to anyone!’
